ICE helps you when you can't help yourself.
Walter Mossberg lists "ICE" as his #4 favorite application in his Technology Column "Some Favorite Apps That Make iPhone Worth the Price" at the Wall Street Journal's website All Things Digital!
With ICE on your home screen, emergency personnel have a quick, easy, and obvious way to find out exactly who you are and who they should contact when you can't make contact yourself. In addition, with ICE, they have immediate access to other vital information, like your allergies, medications, and medical conditions.
ICE integrates directly with your contact list and identifies your contacts' relationships to you so that emergency personnel know exactly who they are calling. If your device supports it, they can make the phone call directly while viewing the contact.
To make it easier for you to provide this essential information, ICE has lists of the most common allergies and medical conditions, and over 175 of the most commonly prescribed and over-the-counter medications. All you have to do is select the ones that apply to you. Of course, you can also make your own custom entries and notes about each allergy, medication, or medical condition.
While we sincerely hope that you never have to use ICE, we also know that accidents and the unexpected do happen, and that ICE may be the key in helping first responders and emergency personnel help you and those that care about you.

New Version 1.1.0
05-01-09
We have received a number of reports of crashing after updating ICE to v1.1.0. The vast majority of reported problems are caused by a low memory condition on the device at startup. If the application crashes shortly after launch (possibly after displaying a blank release notes screen), it is likely that this is the problem.
As a temporary work-around, we have found that powering off your device, then powering it back on will free up memory and allow you to start ICE.
This problem has been corrected, and an update submitted.
